Join the UoBSat Engineering Team – Pioneering Space Exploration for 2024-25!

UoBSat, the University of Bristol’s pioneering student-led satellite team, is expanding and seeking talented individuals to join our dynamic Engineering team for the 2024-25 academic year!

Who We Are:

UoBSat is a vibrant team of undergraduate and postgraduate students, spanning all academic years, driven by a passion for innovation in space science and technology. Our team includes bright minds from Aerospace, Physics, Electronics, Earth Sciences, and beyond, supported by experts and researchers across these fields. Our mission? To push the boundaries of student-led space exploration, culminating in the launch of the University of Bristol’s first satellite.

This Year’s Goal:

Building on the success of our PROVE Pathfinder mission, which PROVE-d that our hardware could withstand harsh launch conditions and the vacuum of space, we are setting our sights even higher for 2024-25! Our aim is twofold:

  • Miniaturizing the PROVE Pathfinder payload to fit within a 1U cube.
  • Designing, building, and testing a 3U Bus – all in one exciting year.

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking passionate and driven individuals with expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Power Systems
  • Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS)
  • Software Development
  • Structural Engineering
  • Communications Systems

If your skills don’t fall directly into these categories but you believe you can contribute to our mission, we would love to hear from you!

Why Join UoBSat?

  • Hands-on Experience: Gain practical, hands-on experience in satellite design, construction, and testing.
  • Innovative Environment: Work on cutting-edge technology alongside a multidisciplinary team of students and experts.
  • Professional Growth: Collaborate with peers, mentors, and researchers while acquiring valuable skills that will boost your career.
  • Tangible Impact: Contribute to the University of Bristol’s first-ever satellite mission and leave a lasting legacy in space exploration.

In 2023, we conducted environmental testing at the European Space Agency in Belgium, and now we are preparing to take the next bold step in space science and technology development.

Requirements:

  • You must be a current student at the University of Bristol (undergraduate or postgraduate) to apply.
  • A passion for SPACE!
