As a pioneering satellite team hailing from the prestigious University of Bristol, UoBSat stands at the forefront of student-driven space exploration. We are a dynamic group of individuals composed of both undergraduate and postgraduate students spanning the full spectrum of academic years, from wide-eyed first-years to seasoned final-year postgraduates. Our mission is to cultivate a dynamic environment that nurtures curiosity, innovation, and hands-on experience in the captivating realm of space technology.

Our dedication to hands-on learning and tangible accomplishments is encapsulated in our recent milestone—an environmental testing program at the European Space Agency in Belgium during the Easter of 2023. Role Description
Are you a creative and skilled website developer with a passion for space technology and innovation? Join our satellite team at the University of Bristol as a Website Developer, and take the lead in shaping our online presence to inspire, inform, and engage our community. Other expectations are that they will regularly attend the team-wide standup meetings and software sub-team meeting as part of a weekly time commitment of roughly 10 hours.
Responsibilities
- Blog: Help to keep our blog up-to-date and engaging
- Content Management: Manage and update website content, ensuring that information is accurate, current, and relevant. Create and maintain a well-organized structure for easy navigation.
- Optimization: Implement best practices for website performance, including optimizing loading times, image compression, and minimizing code to enhance user experience.
- Security: Incorporate security measures to protect the website from potential threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring data integrity and user privacy.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise, providing efficient solutions to maintain the functionality and accessibility of the website.
Requirements
- Web Development Skills: Proficiency in HTML and PHP.
- Content Management Systems: Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) and the ability to customize and extend their functionality with plugins or custom add-ons.
- UI/UX Design: Understanding of user-centred design principles and a creative eye for designing intuitive and visually appealing interfaces.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Thoroughness in coding practices, website testing, and ensuring a polished final product.
- Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
